The first step you should take to find out more is to visit Equifax's website. Equifax has a tool that can help consumers determine whether their data has been exposed.

Once you have determined whether your data has been exposed or not you can follow some of the tips below to protect your identity:

  • Don’t respond to emails, texts, or phone calls asking for personal or financial information.
  • Frequently review account activity and immediately report unauthorized transactions to Equifax.
  • Always use multi-factor authentication (a security system that requires more than one method of authentication from independent categories of credentials to verify the user’s indentity) when available.
  • Update PINs and passwords, including email passwords, and follow best practices (i.e.: using long and complex phrases, and never re-using passwords).
  • Enroll in 1 year of complimentary identity thef protection and credit file monitoring services offered by Equifax by visiting www.EquifaxSecurity2017.com/enroll/.
  • Place an initial fraud alert with a credit bureau, which is free and will apply to all the credit bureaus.
  • Consider the benefits and drawbacks of credit freezes, which are more secure and longer-term than fraud alerts, but more restrictive.
  • Enroll in Verified by VISA / MasterCard Secure Code. Members can enroll in Verified by VISA by simply clicking the "Verified by VISA" logo found at the bottom of our website and following the steps.

  • Equifax Security Breach

It was recently discovered that Equifax, a consumer credit reporting agency, experienced a cyber-security breach involving consumer information. Criminals exploited a U.S. website application vulnerability to gain access to certain files from May through July 2017. While Equifax has not yet seen any unauthorized activity click here for a few tips to help protect your identity.
  • Routing Number Update

Attention members who have joined us through the Oswego Heritage merger:

Beginning shortly our systems will be updated and in order for your account to be fully functional, we require that you switch your routing number to the Compass routing number (221 378 993).  This means that if you are still using Oswego Heritage checks, we ask that you order new Compass Credit Union checks (first order is free!). And for members who have any ACHs set up with the Oswego Heritage routing number must be changed as well. Note: your account number will stay the same.
