OSWEGO, NY (January 19, 2021) – In order to ensure that none of Compass Federal Credit Union’s Bank at School accounts fall into dormancy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the credit union will be depositing 25¢ into all accounts.
All banking institutions are required to file notice of dormancy in the event an account is inactive for over one year. In this instance, there is a $5 monthly fee assessed at the end of each month, until the account is active. By depositing 25¢ into all Bank at School accounts, Compass ensures dormancy will not be reached by any Bank at School members for this school year.
Due to ongoing social distancing regulations in regards to the pandemic, Compass FCU was forced to rethink its 2020-2021 Bank at School Program. Instead of visiting school’s this year, the revamped program allows students to make deposits via the drive-thru, night deposit boxes, or by mail.
This modified version allows students of all ages to continue to take part in this real-world banking experience.
Once each month, Compass is conducting a drawing for three $20 gift cards, among all students that make a deposit.
If there are any further questions, members are encouraged to call our George St. office at (315) 342-5300.
Compass looks forward to continuing the tradition of its Bank at School program, albeit modified in 2020-2021, as the credit union helps students in all grade levels understand the importance of saving money.
